The computer age has made it affordable for people to have a personal computer. This can be in the form of a desktop or laptop that can be used for a variety of functions. Since people are now able to make money via the web by simply putting up a website, here are some tips to ensure no one can just hack into it.
1. Passwords are the best defense against hackers or people at home from accidentally opening it. Since most programs have a maximum number of characters for the password, it is best to use all of it to make it difficult for people to figure out what it is.
2. The most common passwords people use are important dates, names of loved ones and other things close to the heart of the user. Unfortunately this is such a giveaway and if the hacker knows the individual quite well, it will be easy to crack. This shouldn’t be done so that the contents of the computer will not be compromised.
3. Some people are too lazy to think about a password since the user could easily forget it. When this happens, the password could be numbers or letters of the alphabet in sequential order. There are also those that use the log in name also as the password.
This shouldn’t happen because of the security risk. It is best then to add other signs that are available in the keyboard to come up with a password.
4. Website security is there for the user alone. No one else should know about it so it is best never to write it down or reveal it to anyone. If the password falls into the wrong hands, everyone knows there will be trouble.
5. Some email sites are case sensitive. If the password was programmed with the caps off but upon logging on it was typed in caps on, the system will not honor the password. Following how these sites do it, the user can also do that to increase website security.
6. Hackers sometimes think that the password is always a word that exists in the dictionary. However this is not the case. Some users have the brilliant idea of making something up which is quite hard to figure out.
7. Another problem that some lazy people do is using the same log in and password when logging on to other sites. Should this be cracked, chances are the others will also be compromised. It is best then to think of other passwords for these sites.
8. After finishing what needs to be done in a certain site, some people think that merely clicking the X box on the upper right hand corner is enough. Unfortunately it is not. Should someone else open the browser, there is a chance the site that was visited will open again and that person will see everything.
To avoid this from happening, it is best to log out the proper way before closing the site.
Website security is not just the job of those who create software products for the consumer to purchase. It is also the responsibility of every user who has a computer. By taking the appropriate safety measures, the individual will feel comfortable knowing the contents in the websites are safe.
